well ive been busy with my monte carlo SS all the time and its coming along great. but my Regal broke down the other day, it was the thermostat it stuck shut and it was replaced about 2 mons ago. i took out the thermostat and the car runs fine. only thing is i dont have a scanmaster so i cant check why after the car idels in one spot for 3-5 min the check engine light comes on.... the problem started when i removed the thermostat but the car runs fine with the light on or off....will no thermostat in theer cause this?

It needs a thermostat. The engine will stay in "open" loop until the coolant is above ~160°. Either the ECM is unhappy because the coolant isn't hot enough, or because the engine is staying in open loop to long.
