I don't want to sound like a whino but I'm really depressed...

For those that don't know I sold off my Regal a few months ago. Granted my car was just a basic Regal, carbed V6, not a turbo car....really nothing special, but the thing was it was a clean Florida car, virtually no rust, body straight, I got it from the original owners, needed paint and a little interior work but was amazingly clean and solid.

I really loved that car and hated selling it but I needed to downgrade from 4 cars to 3 (we were supposed to have moved to another state this year, now it won't be until next year, thanks to the goddamn military:mad: ) and it was either it or my other toy, a 71 Chevelle that I built that had to be sold. Guess which one ended up being sold?

Now I want another Regal (this time I want a turbo car) but can't find one I want....all the ones I find are overpriced or beat to death or severely modded or rusted to pieces or several states away....meanwhile I browse ebay or the classifieds and see some nice looking Regals/T-types and it seriously makes me regret ever selling the one I had.....I can't believe I ever sold it.

If I were still single I'd go get a loan and start looking for another one, since they all seem to be priced at $15k and up.....but having a wife I now have to have her approval, I'm afraid she will not want me to take out a loan on another car, we already have 3 cars (my truck and car, her car) and she's afraid we will have 4 and then have to figure out how to move all 4 of them.

And I don't want to be w/o a hot rod for any given amount of time (otherwise I'd consider just selling my car, then going out and buying another one) so I've offered my Chevelle up for a TR as a trade on several sites....I get all sorts of stupid offers on it (one guy wanted to trade me a 2002 Kia Rio for my Chevelle...YEAH RIGHT!) but no one with a TR seems to want to trade, (the closest I got was someone wanting to trade a "cloned" GN but I want an authentic T-type/GN) yet I'd even add some cash to the trade if it were the right car....

On top of that I'm starting to lose interest in my Chevelle...I miss my old Buick and really want another one....you guys are all lucky....wished I could only be as lucky....

Build a 3.8 turbo engine and trans for the Chevelle. Then you can swap back and forth when the mood strikes. Saves on insurance too.

Chevelle

Hey 84 Either your Chevelle was a 454 SS or you must of had mucho sentimental value for it. Had a Hugger orange Chevy2 SS 327,PG that even to this day wish I never got rid off , built it up like you and had alot of sentimental feeling for that car. Those 70-72 SS Chevelles are nice cars a guy here that I sold some GN rims and a GN front bumper from me has a few he seems to have lost the thrill for them. So I deliver this GN bumper to him one night and we was talking and I was about to leave, and he says you want to see the Chevelle I drove in High School with no enthusiasm at all . I'm guessing he's so into the Buicks now and he had this Chevelle for 37 years it don't float his boat anymore.

So I thought he probably had a plain jane Chevelle, go into his garage and man this dude has a 70 SS iron headed 454. The aluminum headed engine is the one that the hard core collectors want I always get mixed up and you can answer this which is the LS5 vs the LS6. This SS is blue with white stripes clean white interior a 4 speed Muncie RC, original wheels very clean ride. Just messing around with him I said I'd trade the 87GN for it and he said sure. Then I say no, no just kidding never thought he'd say yes.

Parked next to his 70SS is a 67 Chevelle SS with the original hood (look like valve covers coming out the hood) well I'm like this guy has some bad cars, well excitement doesn't last, wind is let out of my sails. The guy before him blew the original 396 and threw a 350 in it. Think this guy was just trying to get his T-Type back together that some Hoodlums had stolen from his driveway, and was just so focused on that and just did not show much emotion. He had a beautiful Charcoal and grey T that they jacked up and painted black they put 20's on it, gets car back and car is running like crap. So he actually showed more excitement when I brought the bumper I had sold him,. He had gotten biten bad by the Buick bug, heck his son has a beautiful white 85 T...

I can see why you had a hard time deciding, Chevelles are decent cars infact one of the other Members here TurboFish38 mentioned a 65 Z16 (396)Chevelle SS that might be the rarest Chevelle SS and that would be a no brainer as far as trading or getting rid off.

Hope you get over your depression figure out what you want to do and Do it!, I can see you much happier working on one these Buicks.

i have a real solid 85 regal with a carb turbo engine for sale cheap.

Didn't see it in the f/s area, wasn't exactly looking for a hot air TR but I may consider one if the price is right....are the hot airs also known for turbo lag like the earlier models?

No actually my Chevelle started it's life as a Malibu with a bucket seat interior and it cam factory with a 350. Then a big block was dropped in and a 12 bolt was added, along with the SS hood and grille. Don't get me wrong, I still like Chevelles but after owning a Regal it's bitten me to own another. The car I had was just a cool cruising car, comfortable and classy, nice body lines....I had every black man wanting to buy mine....probably to donk it out.

The aluminum head version of the Chevelle you are thinking of is RPO code L89, and it's a 396 engine. It also had aluminum intake, solid lifter cam, Holley carburetor (stock), rectangular port heads....aside from the iron headed L78, It's considered the top dog of the 396 big blocks. It ran like an 11;1 c.r. and yes they're fetching some $$ today.

The LS5 was a 390 hp 454....it had the typical hydraulic flat tappet cam, quadrajet 4bbl, oval port heads and cast intake manifold....the LS6 was the top dog 454 as it came with a solid lifter cam, rectangular port heads (for high rpm use) and aluminum intake and a very high (over 11:1) compression ratio. It was rated 450 hp but it was actually pushing closer to 500 hp.

Yes the RPO Z16 65 Chevelle is fetching some big money these days (they only made 200 of them), as well as an authentic 70 LS6 Chevelle.

But yeah I'm just wanting another 86-87 Regal to replace the one I just sold...preferably a T-Type in good shape, close by....

it was for sale on the other board awhile back. the lag on the carb/turbo is not as bad as the 85 sfi car i had but the sfi car was faster. i built this car because i wanted another tr but when i sold off all my drag racing stuff and the last "fast" car i had i bought a 86gn. so now the 85 needs to go.i still drive it but when the gn's finished i will have to store it. its a fun car. it would be a good car for a 86/7 engine later on.
