high oil pressure?

what would cause high oil pressure?
motor is a series 2 3800...cold idle pressure is usually 75-78 psi... started it today, was 95-100psi

drove it about 2 miles...idle pressure was still in the 90's

Probably the pressure sending unit.I had one on a jeep that would peg the guage to the max, changed it and the guage read normal.

what weight oil are you using? mine usually goes up in the colder months so i went to 5w-30 still starts at 71psi, in the summer i will use 10-30.

Let your car warm up longer, it'll still be on the high side riding for 2 miles possibly even 5??? Once it warms up good enough all should be well.

5w30...its 70 degrees here

usually after a couple miles the pressure will drop some...buts its not. only thing that makes sense is a bad sender
