when we connected toggle switch on factory time delay fan relay

(green wire w/yellow line) we discovered that with the key on the
fan would only kick for a split second and when terminals(ground and fan relay located on the switch) were switched around it did the same thing. Then we tryed to use a three prong switch we finally got the fan to turn on with the key on and then when the key is shut off the fan turns off. On top of all this when the engine is running the fan is always on low speed and when the switch is flipped it kicks to high speed . We have also tryed a different working fan delay relay.

thanks for the help anyone who responds

I had to connect mine to the sensor on top of the manifold, right next to the therm, housing. Theres a green/yellow wire there also, mine was doing the same thing as yours, till i connected it to that connector. Working fine now.

Moving the connection closer to the manifold didn't change anything. Also the fan runs on low speed all the time when the car is running, unless the switch is activated in which case it kicks on to high speed.

Note- Fan shuts off when key shuts off.

Thanks for any help/ suggestions

Other than the fan not staying on after key off it seems to be working the way it should...ground the green/yellow stripe wire to fan delay relay via a toggle switch...key on...flip switch and fan should run on high...flip switch and it should continue to run for about 10 minutes...with engine running flipping the switch should toggle between low fan controlled by computer/chip and fan running high all the time...this is the way it works on both my TR's...

Sorry I screwed up there...with key on only...the switch toggles between fan running on high and fan OFF...if switch is in high fan position and I turn the key off the fan continues to run for about 10 minutes...unless I toggle the switch...then it shuts off...now I'm starting to confuse myself....

My switch works exactly the same way as far as after the key is off. The fan will stay on for the delay occassionally after I turn the car off, but only if it's hot. I just assumed the sensor still controlled the delay portion. Maybe i connected to the wrong lead, but I also went to the green/yellow lead of the delay relay.

Maybe I should re-word my question.--

I know that it is hooked up the RIGHT way. I know what it is SUPPOSED TO DO. But it just doesn't work right, and I was wondering what could cause this. I can hear the relay click for a second, but no fan while the ignition is off.

Thanks for all help

Not to be a knuckle head here, but I think that the green wire with the yellow stripe goes to the high speed relay and not the delay relay, correct me if I am wrong or fixin to do this wrong. I was going to install a switch, one side going to ground and the other going to the green wire with the yellow stripe. let me know what you all think. Jr.
