I would like to put an autometer 2 5/8" on my hood. I did some searches and found out the fuel rail is -4an and i think i need 3 ft of it. well if someone could give me a shopping list of everything i need that would be nice:D If someone could snap some pics of there setup that would be nice too:) .....thanks in advance..Bob

I've never done it, but it seems to me like it would be super easy. Depressurize your fuel system (if you don't drive the car for a number of hours it will probably drain down on it's own unless your injectors and seals are super sealing) and remove the schraeder valve from the fuel rail. You might want to use a 180 degree bend on the end of it and put your fuel line onto that. Unless you want to drill holes on the top of your hood, bend a piece of metal in a J shape and drill the holes underneath the hood and mount the gauge to the J piece. You may want to use another 180 on the back of the gauge. I think Jack Cotton might sell the proper kit for the GN, you might want to call him up.

Understand this about the hood mounted gauges...it makes your car stand out ALOT as a performance car and will have it's consequences. Your car will be a bigger target to thieves/vandals, people won't want to race you anymore , cops will notice it and target your car more readily than a sleeper.

Personally I wouldn't mount a gauge to the hood...but it's your car. :)

Kenne-Bell used to sell a hood mount VDO kit. There were no holes drilled on the top of the hood. Came with everything needed. Like $150 I think.

I got one on my hood...........I got my bracket from Cotton's Performance it mounts under the hood with 4 self tapping screws and it Stainless Steal, like 15 bucks. Auto Meter 2 5/8 guage, 4 ft. braided hose, gauge cup, a fuel rail fitting, thread tape........all said and done it was close to $150.....I like the look of it on my car but does attract some attention......I havent had a problem with cops yet........But I would not park it at a major mall or something like that. Scaried of someone just ripping it off. But I dont drive it that much so it works for me.

 Nick

thanks for all the replies

I already attract a lot of attention with the single 3" atr exhaust so maybe a little more will not hurt:) This car only gets driven on the weekends and most of the time i am working on it:D I just want to keep an eye on my fuel pressure so i don't blow anything.....................................thanks Bob:)

I've got the KB one on my hood...nice kit...comes with everything
you need...VDO guage...what I really like is the adapter for the braided fuel line which attaches to the pass side of the fuel rail...it does stand out but so does my roll bar :)

Russell makes a 180° fitting in -4AN, stainless color ($17 each). I have two of those with about 3' of -4 braided hose ($25?), a homemade bracket that mounts on the bottom side of the hood (free or $4 worth of 1/8" steel strap from Home Depot bent to shape in my vise), and an Autometer gauge cup ($15). So with gauge ($40) my kit cost me probably about $120-ish. I ran it under the hood for a long time so the changeover was relatively painless.
