Hood Pad Care

Whats the best way to clean the hood pad? On my ocassionaly shown, dd we-4 the pad is pretty good, it's just getting a little dirty. If I could even find a correct pad anymore (I've heard they are still available without the decal and the ones with the decal are not exactly right) mine is not in bad enough shape to justify the cost of replacing it so cleaning it is the only option.

I have one of those small steam cleaners for home use. Anybody tried those? Once it is clean how do I keep it that way? Scotchguard?

I use Meguiars APC+ diluted and a soft brush and that does pretty well. The brush has to be soft or it will rip the liner.
