will the 87 intake and turbo bolt on the 84/5 long block?
Yes. Also, there is no oil return in the 84/5 block though, you would have to drill one if you are converting to a 86/7 setup.

The 84-85 block is certainly different than the 86-87 109 block. The 84-85 engines used a different head gaskets and did not use TTY head bolts. They will interchange but the 86-87 block has better strength in the deck surfaces and the head bolt holes are sunk deep into the deck unlike the 84-85 block.

short answer is yes. plenty of folks converted their hot air engines to 86-87 format by swapping intake and front accessories, headers, etc.

considerations....

for best fitment w/r/t port matching, you might find that perhaps 0.050" or so might need to be shaved from the 86-87 intake to get it to sit perfectly.

And the same can be said for any 86 - 87 engine with original components during a rebuild to account for any head resurfacing and block decking.

And the number of times respective engine has been rebuilt resulting in multiple shavings to the heads and block - have to measure.

Since you're noting swapping to a long block, I'm thinking you have a good engine but want the 86-87 setup. So just check how the ports match up between intake and heads. the 86-87 engines as built had non-perfect transitions. transition between turbo inlet bell & turbo compressor cover, throttle body to dog house, intake to cyl head, cyl head to header. and there are those who ported the factory cast iron 90* elbow transition to the downpipe. Check it out and depending how much power / boost you'll run, perhaps just enjoy the car if you're not planning horsepower levels in the 500-plus range.
