Im looking for a test pipe that will fit into the factory exhaust system for now, and will bolt right up. The other thing it must work with an aftermarket exhaust system.

Also, where do you guys get downpipes for the hot airs at????

One more thing, to anyone in the indianapolis area, I need to find someone that is ASE certified in performance and repair. I have done basically everythning I can think of to this car, except the test pipe and exhaust, and am STILL having issues with boost. The MAF sensor seemed to help with the fuel issue, but something is still not right and is illuding me. I WILL hire someone for up to 3 hours to come out and figure out what is wrong with the car. No guesses. I want someone that will tell me THIS is wrong with the car. This needs to be fixed and will be good to go. Know anyone? Let me know.

Thanks

exhaust parts

just about the only place to get exhaust parts for hot-air cars is another owner. The aftermarket for these cars really makes me sad. My dad and I actually made my dump pipe for my Kenne Bell dp because it just wasnt available elsewhere. The best headers you can get are probably either poston's or ATR, but everyone is holding on to their atr stuff like it is gold. As far as downpipes are concerned, unfortunately, you will have to get in line like the rest of us. If I was better at welding I would have already made one.

Does anyone on here have a test pipe for an 84 85 grand national???? Also, A guy at work is a REALLY good welder and can do stuff like this. I would ask him about possibly fabing one up and duplicating it IF there were enough people interested. If there were, he would probably do it. Let me know.

I have a test pipe for my 85GN. I bought the Hooker exhaust system from Postons and it came with the test pipe. There was some minor modifications in order the change the bolt on to four bolts. Nobody makes a bigger downpipe. I got lucky and found and old one which is 2 1/2 inch. Good Luck. Brad

Do you mean you have a test pipe that you are willing to sell? So, basically the only way to get a test pipe is to get a hooker exhaust system? Is it considered a cat back, and still comes with the test pipe? And when you say you got lucky and found one, do you mean a downpipe?

So if nobody makes downpipes for our cars, would there be enough interest for me to ask the guy I work with to maybe take a look, and start producing some????

I am not selling my test pipe since it is installed on my car. The cat back system which came with the test pipe was a Hooker system sold by Postons. It is the 86/87 bolt on system which is different than the 84/85 type. All you have to do is have a muffler shop change the flange from the downpipe to the 86/87 type. I am sure you could contact Hooker for one or have your Guy make you one.

I got lucky and found an old 2 1/2 inch downpipe for our cars. It does make a difference over the 2 inch stocker. Check out the thread "Put your money where your downpipe is" and you will get a good feel about the idea of having a 3 inch downpipe being made for our cars. Brad

Test pipe

I will have a test pipe with cut out avaliable in a few weeks. I am going to put in a complete 87 system and my hot air parts will be for sale.

ESP Products sells test pipes, cut out pipes and 3 inch downpipes....at least according to their parts listing on espperformance.com.

Anyone know how these downpipes are? Any pictures?

You can get stock converter flanges at NAPA and then weld them to a piece of pipe.

They are very inexpensive. Sounds like good oppurtunity for some with welder to make some $.
