I'm new here and have an 85 fuel pressure is good but I'm thinking about changing my fuel pump. I'm tryna figure out why most guys run a hot wire kit, is it for consistent fuel flow at high rpm ? Basically for racing or is this typical for everyday drivers?

Definitely necessary! Read vortexbuick.com you will learn almost everything a turbo regal owner should know there.

IMOP This is a must! These cars are almost 30 years old. This is probably one of the most important things to do to ur car IMOP. I have read that the factory wiring to the fuel pump only gives the pump around 10 to 11 volts due to the way it is wired. By installing a "hotwire kit" u will give the fuel pump somewhere around 13 to 14 VDC all the time due to the fact that u wire it directly to the alternator. By the way u should install a new pump also. Hope this info is helpful. There is alot of useful info on this forum just search around and u will find what ur looking for here.
