What is the BEST paint to use on a all concrete block building with split face block and stucco? It was last painted 15 years ago with water based paint, so it has a good chalky primer on it now.

It is located at 3600' above sea level and will be subjected to snow, high winds and lots of sun.

I've been told to use elastomeric, but I think the building needs to breathe. I've considered Coronado paint which is a combination of elasto and acrylic and just used the new Ben Moore Aura resin based paint on another building on the property and was very pleased with it. That building has much more shade though.

What would you experts use?

Had mine painted in 04 with Behr exterior paint from Home Depot.. nothing special, but has held up to So Cal sun and the strong winds here which sand blast everything here out in the country. House is mostly stucco, with wood siding on the front of the house, both areas have held up well.

I called a friend of mine and he said use the Aura or Sherwin Williams Duration, he is Masterhandyman Glenn Haege and the good news is that he owns a turbo Buick too!

Thanks for the reply's guys. Appreciate you making that call Mike. Your friend seems to be the right guy for questions like this. :D

When I did my shop, I used Tammscoat (fine). Euclid Chemical - TAMMSCOAT - Decorative and Protective Coating

I had the walls powerwashed twice to remove any loose paint. Let the walls dry and roll away.

Stay far away from the box store stuff and go a commercial paint supply place, that's where I bought the Tammscoat.

More pics of my shop is in the link in my sig.

hello; Nice job on that building. Does that stuff have much of an odor? I'm thinking about doing something to my cellar walls.
