I bought a set of draglite wheels from a friend with tires for a great price.

The rears are 15X8.5's with 3.5" backspacing I believe.
The wheels fit great, but the tires are about 28" tall and only leave about a fingerwidth between the tire and the outter fender. They are flush with the outside of the fender and look WICKED!

the problem is, I run rear drag shocks and have loose stock springs that like to squat when you gun it..... will airbags keep the car from dropping down on those tires and cutting up the fender?

I really wanna use those tires, they're already mounted. If I can't use them, I'll have to drop another $300 for 26" ET Streets plus mounting costs

Airbags will help. I keep about 5 PSI in my bags to keep the body off the rears.

i have the same wheels on my car with 305/50 15'son the back.

but my quarter panel lips are rolled in.

I have the same wheels with 275/60-15 (28" tall) DRs on them. I have to keep 15-20 PSI in the passenger side bag, 5 PSI in the driver's side bag to keep them from rubbing. They would only rub when I had cargo and passengers, but it doesn't hurt to have the bags pumped up anyway.

Airbags at 12psi. both sides to keep my 275/15/60 Nittos which are 27.75" tires from rubbing.

Very firm. ;)

thanks for the info guys, I think the $50 for airbags sounds like a better option than $300 for new tires plus mounting :D

What would be the best PSI to start with? I'll probably get 2 airbags

Yes - firm.

Not as firm as when the tire hits the wheel well though. I always know when they "rub" because for an instant it feels like I have 2x4s for shocks.

Based on your experience, I might take some air out of the LH side and see what happens. I went from 0 to 20 PSI without checking anything in between.

As to what to start at, I'd see where they might rub first. Seems like the majority of the people have trouble on the RH side. My LH side was fine. Start with 5 psi and work your way up in a couple-of-pound increments

My drivers side was the one that rubbed, not sure if that's LH or RH LOL.

I could take a couple of pounds out of the passenger side but then the car won't hook quite as well and it might look tilted.

I could live with 5 psi. in each side but it's not enough.

Well actually I am living with 12psi. in each side but my backside doesn't like it much. ;)
