the car is 100% stock, shouldnt u be able to hear the turbo spool? i have a boost gauge so i know its making boost.. but theres no noise... the car is soooo quite... why?

heres why, im not trying to be harsh.

100% stock means
1. crappy ass stock snorkle
2. probably clogged cat converter
3. flows next to nothing stock exhaust

:) unbolt the DP at the cat and see if its loud then!

im gonna throw a open air element and hollow out the cat and see how that does..

Open K&N and you will hear it when you're getting on the gas hard. Open downpipe and you will hear it loud all the time.

How loud is loud? lol will i get boost creep?

Don't know about boost creep, but you thought it spooled fast with it the exhaust closed up, disconnect and it is INSTA-SPOOL!!!!!

Mine with the TA-51 was pretty da*n loud with a 3" DP and open dump straight down...Sounded cool running 70 mph down the highway!!!

Yea.. it will scare the **** out of anyone you race definitely. It will scare the **** out of anyone period that you are beside when you jump on the throttle. It will be loud.. but i like loud :)

cops around here are used to open exhaust V8s.. my little six isnt as loud as them :)

i gotta try it :)

Oh btw, obviously, you need to disconnect it down at the cat, not up on the motor

Just making sure :D

hehehe...

 now you tell me :D :D of course i know where u gotta do it.. hehe :) should i notice any big gain's or not really?

If you still have the stock cat and exhaust, you should see some improvement, probably really noticeable if the cat is mostly clogged...Put a K&N on before you do...The stock air filter box is really restrictive to begin with and if you disconnect the exhaust, you are making it easier to breath on the exhaust side, but the intake side will still be restricted...Do the K&N and the exhaust, and yes, it probably will surprise you... :D :D :D

Should i worry about boost creep?

Was that question, "Should I worry about boost creep?" or was it "Should I worry about boost, creep?" ;) :D :D :D hehehe...

Don't know, but if you have the boost turned up, then back it off some and try it and see, but keep your eye on the boost guage...

damn creeps :) thanks for all the help, its greatly appreciated... :)

With the stock turbo it's actually not that loud as long as you drive it pretty easy most of the time. I drove mine for over a year like that and never once got pulled over for it. If you still have the stock exhaust and cat you will see a gain. Once I had a test pipe and decent exhaust my car got slower with the open downpipe. On my car the whistle was louder than the actual engine under normal conditions. Floor it and it will scare people. With a mostly stock setup boost creep shouldn't be a problem but the boost might rise a couple pounds from the better flow.

FJM568 it was a good idea for you to clarify where to disconnect the downpipe... some people just don't know! I met this guy a couple years back who had a hacked up, mistreated 85. I don't know what kind of downpipe it had, but the downpipe had a dump cap right after the turbo. Well, he decided to go to the track and remove the cap. After one run he came back to the pits only to find that he had melted pretty much everything on the passenger side near the turbo. I was amazed this car still ran! Anyhow, sometimes it's best to state the obvious!
