how deep can you go in the door panel?

how deep can you go after cutting out the speaker "cups" before the power window stuff gets in the way?

anyone have an exact measurement?

I don't have an exact measurement but it is quite a bit...I'd say 4 -5"...there is a window stop thingy mounted towards the front of the window that sticks out...this would be your first area of contact. It would only pose a problem if your speaker has a large diameter magnet on it.

wow, okay, well this JL component set i have has 5.25" woofers that are 2 5/8" deep and have a magnet that is 2 6/8" in diameter.

im guessing im gonna have to cut the back off of the stock 'cups'.

is there anything else i should know before attempting this?

If your going to cut out the back of the enclosure to where the mid is playing in the airspace of the door you will want to add some deadening to the door and possibly one of those deflex pads behind the speaker on the doors sheetmetal so you dont get a wierd response and worse yet, rattles/buzz. lol
