How do I change egr valve?

I bought a new egr valve and cannot take my egr cover off. I'm pulling hard on it but scared to break something. I can see a bolt at the bottom of the egr but looks hard to get to with the cover on. Does your cover come off easily?

Was this for an 86-87 TR? If so, the black plastic cover will come off by starting near the vacuum hose and prying off in a circular fashion. If you mess your cover up, the EGR will still work anyway and you can get a replacement off of a 88-90 full size FWD with the 3.8 as well as others.
