How do I check the egr solinoid?

How do I check the egr solinoid? Anyone know how to check this part to see if it has gone bad?

You can check it with a mityvac(vacuum pump) and see if the diaphram holds vacuum.

I got ahold of a mitty vac, and my diaphram does not hold vac. very long. I have the EGR programmed out, but im assuming this is causing a vacuum leak? Sorry if I hijacked the post.

My EGR is fine. I am asking about the the electrical egr solinoid mounted oin the valve cover?
