How do I program my KEY FOB?

I have a 00 Chevy Impala. My RKE (remote keyless entry) failed. I got a replacement KEY FOB from a dealerfriend. How do I program the new KEY FOB to work with my Car?

I think you have to do it with a Tech 2. I might know someone that has one Are you sure it does not work? Is there a battery in it? Kinda like the trans fluid dipstick...LOL

Hey.. Hey.. Hey.. I am a state certified MASTER MECHANIC! How was I supposed to see the trans dipstick... LOL!!!

The Key Fob battery retainer (that is soldered in) broke. I got a new one from a dealer but need help programming it.

I would try looking it up with a 'malibu' forum if there is such a thing. If not, perhaps another GM forum for a newer GM car. I know with my Trailblazer, there is a certain combination of turning the key and pushing a certain button that will put the keyless entry into learn mode. Can't think of what that is right off hand. The dealer might even been able to tell you.
