Ok what I need is some voices of experience on sanding my car. I had to replace on of the fenders and it is not the same color as my stock color, so what I need to do is sand it some so i can primer it. need to know what grade of sand paper I should use.

You would want to clean it first and then use 320 or 400 grit sandpaper. then i would prime it and wet sand again with the 400 grit sandpaper.

What's always worked for me: Definitely clean everything first with some 3M all purpose cleaner-degreaser (or comparable), I would start with some 180 grit to knock down some of the old paint, followed by 240 grit to clean and smooth out the surface, clean again with the 3M cleaner, wipe dry, tack rag and then start shooting light coats of primer, and hit it again with the 320 or 400 before shooting the color coat.

very detailed explenation, thank you for the knowledge..

that's why we're here....(but hey if you really get in a jam, any excuse to head up to the Va Beach area works for me!)

don't take this the wrong way...but if you have not done this before I would advise taking it somewhere...just one fender, they can have it done in a day....and if its messed up ..ie, trash, fish eyes, not matching, orange peel, or runs....they have to fix it!!....just my 2 pennies..
