New replacement fuel sending unit

J.C. Whitney to the rescue !

I took a $20 gamble with this item and it worked for me.

"Adjustable Fuel Level Float, for General Motors Vehicles, 0-90 ohm resistance Each ZX132950R $17.99."

Just remove the broken metal rheostat from the hanger, I think it was riveted on to the hanger. Then remove the plastic sending unit from the JC Whitney hanger and you will see that it matches up perfectly to the holes where the rivet holes are. Just install it with 2 sheet metal screws.

The float arm needs to be bent and installed and you are done. Make sure you follow the same profile as the original one or your readings will be off a little.

I'd recommend checking the full vs. empty readings on the gage before you remount the tank. I didn't think to do this and now I have a 3 gallon reserve.

You will also want to buy a new pump hanger locking ring & O-ring.

Good Luck.
