How do you get the rear brake bleeders loose????

I can see them but cant tell what you need to loosen them, I read somewhere it takes a 1/4 socket, but I cant get one in there to turn them. Is there something i'm missing here?

Don't remember the size, but I use a 1/4" drive rachet with a deep socket.
