How do I remove the pulley from the power steering pump?

Thanks,
Chris

you need a puller. Either borrow one from AutoZone or buy one. Harbor Freight has them cheap. Like $15.

Thanks guys. I have a few different pullers but not specific to a power steering pump. I will check and see what I can rent.

the tool is very easy to use and not to expensive, works on many different vehicles also.

That tool even came in handy when I replaced the condenser motor on my a/c. It popped the fan right off.

I picked one up at a pep-boys for something around $15. Don't try a 2 or 3 jaw puller, it will wreak the pulley. The proper one does a 360* wrap around the groove on the pulley. That much wrap is really needed.

The pulley then needs to be pressed back into place. I don't recall the thread diameter/pitch of the tool, but it threads into the shaft and then a nut is used to run down the bolt/stud to press the pulley on. With some greased washers or a thrust bearing to allow easy rotation.

And the point to where the pulley is pressed back onto the shaft is important, that is to have the belt aligned properly with the other pulleys.
