How many MPH do you pick up from the 1/8 to 1/4 mile?

The faster you go, the less time you have to get there.

If you run 12 flat the 1/8th comes in 7.5 seconds leaving 4.5 seconds to the finish.

If you run 11 flat the 1/8th comes in 7 seconds leaving 4 seconds to the finish.

If you run 4.5 the 1/8th comes in about 3 seconds leaving 1.5 seconds to the finish. Thats why the top fuel and funny cars only pick up 45 - 50 mph after the 1/8th mile. There is less time left to accelerate. Thats why most of your ET is at the beginning of the run.

I was being sarcastic on the ''only 40mph'' above.
Using your calculations what does 3.7 sec between the 8th and 1/4 convert too?

TIA.

Sorry if you thought I was directing that at you. I wasn't. I was just making a general comment on the fact that the speed doesn't increase very much after the 1/8th mile to the finish. My 87 goes 10.7 to 10.9 and gains 26 to 27 mph. My 86 goes 9.45 and gains about 30 mph. (And I knew you were joking). :D

And Bill's 40 mph is awesome. But so is a mid 7.:p

42.5

Billy A. has me beat in the E.T. by a bunch (.25) but for some reason I seem to have the MPH @ 182.5. Time to work on the suspension and get those 60' times down in the low 1.teens.

Prolly the wedge shape of the opel versus my block shape Regal??? Kenny D ran 7.28 but ony at 178, he used the same engine in the small Cutlass and ran 200mph. My best 60 ft is 1.14, we are in the process of fixing that now.:D My 1/8 mile MPH is generally in the 145 range, I think the weather kept it down in BG some but I did run 144 on 1 pass.
