ok, maybe that was a bad subjest name, but anyways... My 87 t-type i just got doesn't have a posi, i know it needs a 8.5 inch and i've been able to find quite a few of them on ebay, and i'm prett7 sure i have on laying around. Most that i find say they will fit a gn, weather its a 28 or 30 spline, and i'm pretty sure they wouldn't change from gn to gn, they would all use the same number. so whick is it, 28 or 30? thanks for the help, and if anyone has a spare good working posi unit setting around i might be intrested.

petes right .gm switched to the 30 spline in 89/90. i tried to build an open rear into a posi for my 79 malibu years ago and after snatching a 3.73 ring and pinion and posi unit from a 90 caprice 9c1 police car and installing it ,my 28 spline axles wouldnt fit and i had to go buy a 400 dollar set of axles.i still have this rear to this day in my 80 malibu and everytime i see that the axles are now 250 pair i remember what i did back in 1992 when i mismatched the parts and begged ,borrowed and...........begged again for the 400 bucks.www.ckperformance.com

ok, thanks guys thats all i needed. Like i said i do have a 8.5 posi out of a 87 monte carlo ss, i would assume there the same but you know what happens when you assume things. I may also be able to get my hands on another free one, but i'm not sure if it has the right splines or not. if not i'll post somethign in the parts wanted and keep my eye out on ebay. thanks!
