I put on an adjustable waste gate actuator without a real boost gauge. The idiot band gauge is absolutely worthless. My mechanic and the actuator set at mid- thread length. I thought I am such a closet mechanic and tried to adjust the boost level. In an attempt to lower boost by adjusting the waste gate actuator I went the wrong way. I had maximum boost-the whole exhaust went through the turbo. My new motor with 7000 miles blew up on a hill(the stock waste gate has two hoses-this prevents my situation). The adjustable waste gate actuator need a real boost gauge in order to stop an idiot like me from screwing up.
i blew the passenger side head off the block with 1/8 clearance. Bad Bad Bad.
New motor-lost three new turbos-The stock oil fill pipe was plugged up with oil-the engine block was pressurized and did not allow oil to drain from the turbo into the lifter valley. This was an $8000 mistake since I do not have the time to do the work myself.
