okay...gene's best run was a 9.90 @ 136(1.37 60').
he was running a stock block, std crank and stock rods(arp bolts) with +.020 je pistons.the bottom end was studded(no girdle) with 2 billet mains.he ran a mm 208 hyd cam, port matched gn1's and a fel-pro.
he blew his first
eek: ) head gasket in vegas after running many high 9's low 10's.that's what we call being dialed in
.
he's now building a stage 1 shortblock to replace his old stocker that is now wrapped in plastic in my dad's shop
.don't get nervous guys,it's going in my brother's 87.
i do have his old 208 cam and lifters out in the garage that will be going in my 84 along with some ported irons someday when i stop being lazy
.
as far as bottom end strength,i know guys going deep 11's on BONE stock longblocks.lotsa boost,no knock and a perfect, killer tune
.
