Dont have the time to do it my self. So about how much would i expext to pay for the labor involved?to replace the springs

I had the mechanic that worked on this guys twin turbo buick tell me $250. plus the springs. I said screw that, I'll do it myself with the rope in the spark plug hole and save myself $250 bucks.

I agree it is not that hard to do. You could do it in about 3hrs. I just got done replacing mine. I used an air compressor instead of a rope but either will work well. Go ahead and replace the valve seals while you have the springs off.

That $250 could add a lot of hp instead of spending it on something you can do at home. :D

valve springs

If you could bring it to Jax. Florida I'd do it for about $100.00. Not very hard to do, just time consuming.

not only is it time consuming, but i think a lot of people have that fear of dropping a valve and not being able to bring it back up with a magnet or something.

I got the springs from kirban $40

jegs.com for the air hold kit $9

Have to still get valve cover gasket, etc.
Only thing, i'm going to use the origional retainer and keepers if they look ok, and i'm going to have to wait till I have the cover off to get new valve seals.

The original retainers and locks (keepers) should be just fine. It would save a little time to get your valve seals in advance. There were two different sized seals on Buick V6s, but the heads on our 84-87 Turbo cars are all the same.

No any thing above 100 psi. is fine. It defiantly wouldn’t hurt anything. You definitely want to change the seals while you have the springs off. Poston has them pretty cheep.
