Anyone know how to disconnect the open door/key in the ignition alarm?

Thank you
~JM~

Siting in the driver seat Under the steering coluum to the righ of the vent there is the chime remove the black cover covering the area and the chime is there just unplug it

Thanks Jim, That's where I had tracked down the noise to. I have an '87 T-Type & the "black cover" that you are referring to must be different than my car. I am not having any luck at gaining access to the alarm chime to unplug it. Do I need to disassemble the dash surrounding the radio/climate control panel? So far I have pulled the dash that surrounds the instrument cluster but still can't get in there due to a piece of steel in the way.

I just added a newer unit to my car cause I had two occasions driving to work where I forgot to turn off my headlights after I parked....yeah.
Anyway the little box is burried in there. There is a metal clip that holds one of the screws for the vent panel under your steering wheel. If you unbolt the metal clip that holds the right screw,
the box is right in there its like 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 usually brown or black. Pull it out.

The black cover is under the dash it covers the top of the gas pedal and brake and coluum it has a couple of screws that hold it in, if u can see youre fuse block under there than u dont have the cover. The little chime is to the right of the vent under the coluum. reach youre hand up there just left of the diagnostic plug and just unplug it. It will be deep in there.

Honestly i think it is a good feature, but like trixsix says it will help u out when you leave youre lights on or forget the keys are in the ignition.

Thanks everyone, I finally found the SOB & yanked it out of there. It was like pulling a tooth. Here is a pic of it in case anyone else is looking for it.

I can see why u wanna yank it out cuz that buzzer sure can be annoying, personally i like the chime 7 pins (soft ding ding ding) vs 6 pins (long buzzer) its not as loud n noisy the headlight on warning rapid chime is a plus .
