I have asked many people how to install and they tell me to go here and there, but I always come up empty handed. What I am asking is, is there a template to cut the console, and I want to use the org links so I don't have to install backup lights ect. Does any one have the answer??? I have seen pictures of other peoples installed and using the shift indicator. thanks,,,,,Bryan
There used to be a writeup with some pics on ARIZONAGN.COM but it's gone...as for a template I doubt anyone has that...best thing to do to start is remove the entire console and set it over the shifter on the ground...you'll be able to see where you need to cut...I just took my dremel with cutting wheel and started trimming...just go slow...then install the shifter in the car and see how the console fits over it...you'll probably have to do some more minor trimming...make sure you go through all the gears on the shifter as you test fit...to install the shifter you can use the stock shifter attachment point(2 bolts) for the front...you will have to drill another hole in the mega shifter bracket since the holes won't line up...as for the back of the shifter...first mount it in the front...you will have a large gap between the floor and shifter in the back...I used long bolts with many washers to take up the gap and to level the shifter...drill holes in the floor and use lock washer/nut underneath the car for the long bolts to hold shifter in place...doesn't sound like it would be very rigid in the back but I've had mine like that for years and I really jam the shifter when I launch off the transbrake...no problems...next would be the shifter cable...you'll have to drill a new hole in the floorboard for that since the stock hole will put a bind on the cable...not sure you could even use the stock hole...you'll see what I mean after you get the shifter installed and go to install the cable...after the shifter/cable is installed pull the console back off and attach the new chrome plate with indicator...the instructions with the shifter show how to install the indicator cable to the shifter...for the indicator light just tap into the stock indicator light wire...that should take care of the inside...now the tranny hookups...to keep all the stock stuff working...backup lights...neutral safety...etc you have to weld the bracket supplied with the shifter to the stock bracket...here's a pic of that...it's really not that bad of an install...I really like my shifter...that's about all I can remember off the top of my head...there's probably some other little things I left out...if I think of them I'll post them...
