if TPS readings are correct on scantool does this mean TPS should be ok? or can you have good readings and still have a defective TPS?

you can still have a defective tps. the safest check is with the key on motor off check to see if your tps rises smoothly on your scanmaster. there shouldnt be any dips or jumps as you move up towards WOT. hth

It should rise smoothly and progressively as you slowly press down on the accelerator. If it doesn't its time for a new one. Unless you don't plan on any part throttle driving.:p

scanmaster updates 1.5 frames per second. So you need to move the gas pedal slowly to test the tps.
