Several years ago I bought a SS exhaust from BGC (no snide remarks here). I thought it was the last exhaust system I would ever have to buy. This weekend I got in my car and cranked it up for the first time in a few weeks. The part that connects the two pipes from the muffrs to the down pipe has rusted clean through. And this was heavy metal, too. Geeeee....... I couldn't believe it.

So, how do I repair this? Are there systems that are completely stainless? I gotta be very careful here, otherwise I will be buying a complete exhaust system. Can I grind off the steel piece and buy a new stainless one?

Thanks,
Paul.

Last I knew BGC sold "aluminized" exhaust systems, NOT stainless.
ATR's the only one's I know of selling completely stainless systems cat to tail

Well, this is actually a stainless system except for the flange at the Y right after the CAT/Test tube. I know it is stainless because I have it polished and it shines. I am hoping to find some way to repair it........

If you're sure the rest of the exhaust is stainless, you should be able to put a new flange on, no sweat[the original man. did it].*If* the exhaust was not stainless,I wouldn't bother with a new flange.
