Guys, my dad is kinda limiting my options on the T-Type. It technically isn't his car anymore, I have paid for it. He still has first chance to buy it back (like I'm gonna part with it!) He has agreed to the Hooker exhaust and Big Mouth cold air kit. I will be doing the Bosch 237 FPR, 340 Walbro pump, and Thrasher chip without his knowing. He doesn't want me to do mods because he says turning up the boost on a stock motor will just break more parts. The motor only has 66K on it and has lived on full synthetic Mobil 1 forced induction oil its whole life. How can I bump the boost a little without screwing anything up???

The thrasher chip itself will bump up the boost a little. If your dad doesn't want you to blow up the engine, he should be all for the Walbro 340.

Otherwise, I'd listen to your dad until you get a scan tool to monitor the engine.

I do have access to a scan tool, but its not mine so I can only use it occasionally. Do people leave their scan tools on in the car all the time or is that the norm???? I've never seen one, used one, or seen anyone use one! So, any help would be nice!!!!

People leave the Scanmaster II in and on all the time in their cars. Laptop scantools of course have a higher theft possibility so probably get removed and locked up when not driven.

get one of Casper's knock gauges and pay attention to it.......that way you don't need a full time scan tool to save your motor

The Scanmaster scan tools are the only ones that are normally kept in the car. The Scanmaster is a little bigger than a radar detector & sits up on the dash.

A scantool will be the most important item you'll buy because they plug into the car's computer & let's you visually see what the various sensors are doing w/ the car running. They are invaluable in that they help you tune it as well as troubleshoot problems. Without one, you're shootin' in the dark with these cars.

The fuel pump & the Hooker exhaust are a very good start, as well as an adjustable fp. regulator.

An aftermarket boost gauge and a knock gauge from www.casperselectronics.com would be my next purchase.

Ooops...Chad beat me too it while I was typing.:D

If I were you, I wouldn't buy anything else after the items above until you become more familiar with the car & have it in a good state of tune.

The links above have a ton of great info along with some performance recipes. Read, read, & read them some more.

HTH:)
