How to test the crank sensor?

I just replaced the crank sensor with casper unit, car fired right up but I noticed a noise coming from it. Shut the car down, adjusted the sensor so it doesn't it the balancer, no start. Replaced the sensor with the original (which was working fine before), adjusted it, no start. I couldn't image two sensors being dead so I'd like to find out how to actually test the sensor.

Nevermind, it was the cam sensor.
