I have, what I believe to be a 2800 stall in my car. 99% of my powerplant is stock. Though, the headers that came on my car were the old hookers, that had all that additional tubing on em. Could this be the reason the previous owner went with a 2800 stall? Ive sinced switched back to the stock headers. Is this stall mis-matched now? Could I possibly go to a tighter stall, and throw this manual boost controller on, to help with spool, with a lower stall? (my spoolup is satisfactory already IMO)

i dont know, ive heard the hooker headers hurt spool up but i would leave the converter in and same ur money. especially since i see ur sig says "more to come!" depending on ur goals u may want to upgrade the turbo some time to like a te44 or maybe a gt6131e or something and then u would have to get a new converter or put the 2800 back in. hth

I just want a fast street car thats all. Initially, I'm going to push the stock unopened motor (except for new springs and timing set of course) IC, turbo, and injectors to as fast as they can possibly go, just to see whats up. After that, my only goal is to build a RELIABLE high 11 pump gas/no alky street car. That's pretty much all I care to do.
If I want to go below 11's, I'm just going to buy a manual windows/locks/seat T type, and mess with that for the high HP applications. My GN is going to remain fairly stock. I was just wondering if a manual boost controller will take up the slack if I went to a tighter converter.
I dont really want the most absolute cheapest, most direct route to power, because it's the journey I'm concerned about. It's all an experiment with me. I wanna know what does what, and why. And if I have to go thru several different parts, I'm good with that.

well if u want u can go tighter on the converter because i remember a few years back, my stock turbo and converter setup spooled pretty good. i think i could hold 10-12lbs. on the foot brake. and im sure the little boost controller would hurt anything.

stock D5s work awesome for a stock type car .. Melissa ran mid 11s @ 118 for 10 years with them

I agree. The stock D5 is a good converter on a stock trim car. When you upgrade to a different turbo, that will determine what converter to go with.

what was our stock stall. wasnt it something like 2200 or so? I believe mines 2800. what is that stall doing to my car. would it be slowin it down at all?
