hello peoples: Youz know the light weight SM that's out there. I believe I have an AC Delco one that's used in a Vette, but do they spin faster or is the weight saving the only plus?

I'm not sure on the "spin faster" but a gear reduction will provide more PAH to that flex plate. Not sure if the unit I linked will fit but it is a gear reduction unit. Id have to do more research or better yet someone else can let us know for sure.
Looking back at my rockauto history, this is the unit I purchased.

A mini starter, itself, does spin faster, which can make it sound like your engine is also cranking faster. In reality your typical gear reduction starter actually turns the flywheel slower. What you gain is more torque which turns your engine over easier, and of course, size and weight savings which is the main benefit and reason enough to make the switch.
