All projects on hold. We had 70mph winds here in Vicksburg MS. We have not had power sence . I just got 2 genaraters one for mine one for Jasons house. We are 200 miles from the gulf and the town looks like it was hit by a tornado. They are saying two weeks befor power is back on . We will be praying for those who lost every thing. :( :( :(

Richard, I hope you make it back alright. Probably not much to go back to. Some of my wife's family lived in Diamond Head. Their house is gone, nothing left. The Jackson area, central MS took a big hit, but anything south of Hattisburg looks like a war zone. Some friends lived on what "used to be" Dolphin Island (their words). They are shrimpers, so they took their boats out before Katrina. On their way back into Mobile bay they saw bodies floating in the Gulf. Co-workers in Baton Rouge comfirmed the same in the NO area along with gators and sharks now in the flooded city.

My damage is not too bad, but I do have 2 trees that a little bit of wind could put on my house. Ricky is letting me use his enclosed trailer to put the race car in and store it at his house (thanks again Ricky) while I finish up the tree clearing.

No lights, boil water notice, limited ice, bottled water and gas, oh yea and the employer demanding you to be back at work. This is bringing out the worst in people, not the best. Fights, stabbings and shootings at ATM's, gas stations and relief sites. In Hattisburg a man killed his sister over a bag of ice. Price gouging is rampant ($10 bags of ice, $6 a gallon gas, $4,000 generators). The local law enforcement has arrested several and commented they will not get bond. They will sit in jail until trial and they will take their time getting to trial.

Here in Mobile things are going south quick! people are already getting laid off because the car business is dead. Here's some food for thought, invest in a locking gas cap. We had a bunch of cars sucked dry last night and someone siphoned gas out of my bosses truck a little while ago IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!! Everybody be careful for the theives, people are stealing anything they can. I am carrying a .40 cal Sig on me and will defend my property with deadly force if neccesary.

Just talked to Richard

Everyone I just talked to Richard, He is one of the most fortunate ones on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He said he house had minimal damage, no water damage at all. I believe he said his sisters home was a total loss though, please keep Richard and his family, and all the hurricane victims in your prayers.

I'm BACK!!

Thanks for posting an update for me, Bubba.

I got electricity two days ago and phone service and DSL this afternoon. All of my family members are accounted for though several of them lost everything. I went into my old neighborhood in south Gautier, MS and many of the houses are gone. Not damaged, GONE! Nothing but a slab! There's at least a 1/4 mile section of the railroad bridge missing and you've all seen the pictures of the other bridges around here. It's like nothing I've ever seen. Worse than Camille, Frederick, Elena and Georges...

My wife is coming back with my kids tomorrow, now that it's safe and clean enough for them to return. Finally going back to work tomorrow also....
