i hate my gn

i hate working on my gn i am just fixing a drivers side header leak and it is so tight and such a bitch. now the trans which was rebuilt 1000 miles ago is leaking and now the rearmain seal is leaking. i would trade this mother if someone had a mopar

Yea sometimes it can be a pain in the butt but when every thing is working you will never find another car like it, If you hate it so much why don't you have someone else work on it for you?Hang in there and it will be worth it in the long run.

Take a break from it and drive one of your other cars to relax. While you are driving around, be on the lookout for someone with long, thin arms and small hands, you know, one of those small, wiry types . Then buy them a 6 pack and recruit them to help you on your car.

the driver side header should be easy to get off, most bolts you can get from the top adn the rest are easily accesible fromt he bottom. As for the tranny leaks, if its the pan its an easy fix, just drop it and replace the gasket and filter. As for the rear main, if its not leaking too bad, just leave it. Not sure if you've ever heard it, but the saying goes "If your Buick's not leaking oil, there's no oil in it!" Dont get discouraged, i drive mine daily and not a week goes by that soemething doesnt go wrong. But like the others said, when its running good, theres nothing like it!

They are much more fun to drive than work on I'll say. Isn't the trans under warranty still, and I wouldn't replace the rear main unless its Pouring out, cause you'll pay and it'll leak again, very soon with the more boost you run.

When we went to change the springs out on my heads it took 2 of us and a tool that we had to make because no one makes it. LOL When my 2nd gear went I did not know if I could get the trans out, with out droping the whole motor. Its a very tight fit, buick guys have it lucky. My main leaks too, you just have to not worry about it. The cross over pipe burns the the excess off anyways :smile:

Don't hate it, just be disappionted with it for while. I have been more upset over one of my newer cars than I ever have been with either of the TR's I've owned. Everyone on this board has experienced leaks, they can be fixed and if not fixed at least slowed. I know about leaks, I own a 1969 BSA Lightning with 7500 original miles....Now that's a leaker.

As for the Mopar....nice cars no doubt, but what other choices do you have besides the Buick GN/TR bang for the buck factor.
