aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh, i'm going to go fn crazy!!!!!! pos electronics

I got one last week myself.

After getting where I was going I disconnected the ECM connectors and reattached them and opened the hood and wiggled the module connector and reseated my extender extreme chip. :p

Code cleared from a locked on service engine soon light and the running like crap as well to normal no code and running perfectly.

Hasn't come back in 5 days luckily.

Strangely enough I am getting better at driving it when it's running real bad. :frown:

SEEMS that many of us have had this problem? Here is what i've tried:
replaced module and coil pack
replaced ecm
re-did all grounds
cleaned sensor plugs and sprayed wd-40
reset ecm several times
bypassed translator + by putting on pig tail
everything mentioned to try i've painfully done with the same results:
the car will start, but error code comes right back, and of course wont run.
When the car is on, if I mess with the coils/ignition mod. it will want to die, like if I move the coil pack around, or shake it.> Are the three nuts on the bottom of the ignition/coilpack a sort of ground? The only thing I hav'nt tried is new plug wires. If any of you locals are good with problems like these, I would appreciate the help if you could make it over to the Valley. I really dont want to miss out on the dyno day because I washed my engine
any other suggestions?

also, what are these?
1) BYPASS line is open or grounded
2) EST line is open or grounded
what is the bypass line and where is it, and is it a relay?
where is the est line and where is it, and is IT a relay?
there is a relay on the passenger side fender on your gn, which is on my fire wall in the elky, that did get melted to the metal, and could have grounded out? and on the drivers side, there is a bigger relay? bigger than the others that sounds like sand is in it? could a relay grounded out cause this problem, man i'm frustrated

No relays, clean out the connectors with CONTACT CLEANER, no WD-40.

EST line is the white wire at the module PIN A closest to the firewall.

BYPASS line is the tan/blk wire PIN B second wire in on the module connector.

Those wires go straight to the ECM connectors B4 and D5 respectively.

The module must be securely bolted to the mount to make a good ground connection.

Make sure all the bolts are tight to the metal bracket and the mount secured tightly to the motor or whatever metal it bolts to down there.

If it's due to washing the engine I would suspect the module plug and connector on it, AFTER you make sure the module is grounded (bolted) down properly.

Radio Shack has electronic contact cleaner.

Jeremy:
Will it run at a very fast idle, say 1800 or so, but want to die below, say, below 1800 rpm?

Tighten the ground wires on the back of the the passenger head PITA to get to

thanks

i'll try it all over again today  i'll post back, and no, it will idle at 600 rpm fine, will drive, but really crappy, almost not at all. I didnt have the coil pack tightened to the bracket while trying to trouble shoot, maybe that will help!

Grounding for your ignition module is via the 3 studs and the plate. Bad grounding to the ignition module will fry it. And give you grief.

so by not having the coil and module bolted to the mounting plate that can cause the error code and fry the module? if so then jeremy owes me a new coil and module

have you took the coil off the module to make sure there is no water in there? also make sure there is no moisture in the module connector also. then start tracing/ohming out all the wires to the ESC module and the ecm.

Oops

I guess that would explain some of the problem, but not how it got started. I'm going to spray the connectors on all the sensors with the stuff from radioshack, let them dry, and ground the pack properly. I'm going to pick up another ignition module just in case  or two :D i'll do it again tomorrow. Wish me luck! :)

I dont know

what ever I did worked, so far so good, I let the car idle for 5 minutes, took it out for a short spin, felt great, hope it stays that way. Thanks to all for the help on the error 42 plague, it was worst than having the flu!
