Do you guys have any recommendation for replacing the MAF sensor.

I have a GM one on hold for me through a friend of mine, but didn't know if there a better one out in the market.

Please share any ideas or recommendations....

Thanks,

IMHO - Always have a spare. Pick up the one from your friend to keep in the garage, or in the trunk for long trips. Then decide what you want. This is a "Single Point of Failure" when it goes..

The Translator/LT1 set up is much better than paying a lot for a delco that may break tomorrow or using a reman with questionable sensor capabilities.

LT1 sensor are bulletproof and flow lots more air than the stocker.

Update it and go with the LT1 or LS1 sensor. You'll need the Translator to run it. But well worth it.

JP

Ramchargers or your favorite vendor is likely to carry them.

An LT1 MAF and Trans will run a little less than $300.

I dont know what new Delcos are going for but probably close to $200, IF you can find one.

The LT1 MAF will usually improve the idle and throttle response also

I can get a brand new Delco for $117. They are still available.

I have an AC Delco contact this is great for digging up old NOS Stuff from GM and Delco...

JP

I will call Ramchargers and see what they can do.

For $117.00, for brand new MAF (Delco in the original box).
I will take 10. Got to be new, in the box, never used..

Also for $117, I stand by my original advice. Pick one up.

I would be very suspect of this 117 dollar MAF. The stock MAf's were discontinued by GM a couple of years ago. Most the MAF's you can get are not calibrated for our cars and can cause evrything from bad idle to detonation which could = a broken engine. If I were you, I would go the translator. You can then go to the junk yard for the MAF sensor for usually less than 75 bucks. The newer mafs will work great and are almost non failure items. Again I would look inot this but I beleive the maf you are being quoted is for a N/A FWD V6 not a turbo.

The $117 for the GM MAF is correct for the '87 Buick Turbo engine.

One thing you may be leaving out in your doubts is that is I am buying it from a AC Delco distributor, therefore he has access to wharehouses all over the country to acquire these parts simply by typing the number in the computer and doing a wharehouse search through AC Delco.

Example:

I see the GN emblems for sale on Ebay anywhere from $35 to 60/70 dollars each...

I just bought both front fender GN's, both intercooled, trunk emblem, and both 3.8SFI turbo emblems for less than $150 brand new from a GM dealer. Just to set aside any doubts, they were ordered from the parts wharehouse, not just old stock.

Any GM dealership has access to thos warehouses. And yes you are correct about some items. I also buy alot of items direct because I can get them cheaper or just plain get them. If you can truly get these mafs then get me the persons name and number and tell him I will buy as many as I can get my hands on. These so far are no longer available from GM on their regular parts as they are shown to be discontinued, and on their NOS parts lists are shown as out of stock. Let us know because we can always use a good source to get these from as they are very hard to come by. Let me know if he can get an original header panel for a GN or 2 door regal. If he can please have him contact me at my email or cell phone. I would be very interested in some other parts if he can get them to me also.

money talks PAL and I am here. Only kidding, but if he can find soome I would love to purchase them to have around just incase. I would actually be more interested in the other stuff I asked for. I will not step on your toes, but I want what is left. HEHEHE

That's because all that stuff is still relatively available. Un reman'd Delco MAF's are not and haven't been for over two years.

If you get a new one for $117, sell it for $250 on E-bay and get a translator/LT1 sensor. That is what I would do with it. In a minute. The LT1 sensors are much better.

If you are concerned about stock appearance (I am) I put the LT1 MAF inside the stock air cleaner box. It works great. My 11.53@118 on drag radials was run with this set up.

Well, here's your options then.....

A brand new Delco MAF in the box for $117

An LT-1, LS-1 MAF/Translator package for roughly $300

Or.....last and certainly LEAST, a good for nothing rebuilt MAF

Personally, I use and recommend the Translator, and even if I had the opportunity to buy a brand new Delco MAF for a mere $50, I'd STILL use the Translator. If you are looking to keep your car stock appearing, by all means get the new Delco, if stock appearing doesn't concern you and you want something that will outlast the Delco and also provide tuning adjustments.....go with the Translator.
