first of all let me start out by saying that this trans is a temporary replacement until i get the one i took out built...

i just got finished installing what is believed to be an 86-87 BRF tranny...the BRF tag is gone and the tranny was attached to an intercooled motor before i got it....anyway, we installed this thing only to get to plugging it up and the plug doesn't fit it.... ...this is the first bump in the road....well, the guy's shop i was using needed the lift so i couldn't pull it back out....so we left it in and hoped for the best....well, this thing shifts hard as hell even at part throttle and even chirps the tires if you down shift it into second on a slight roll....the first/second shift is very, very violent and i think it's going to break something....other than that i like the feel....now, here's where the real problem comes in...

we looked at my converter, which was unknown when i purchased the car last year....it had stamped on it kb2 blah, blah, blah....is this converter familiar to any of you....with this tranny it stalls at 1200 rpms, and i can't build no boost....ZERO...it just bogs the engine, the boost gauge doesn't move, nor does the car strain against the brakes...it does nothing.....

here's the real kicker...when i come to a stop the car almost dies...then, if i go to put the car in reverse it dies and you have to let the damn thing get to 625 rpms in order for it to stay running in revers....same thing for drive.....as long as it's already in a gear you are fine, but going from park to something and trying to take off you will have trouble....

all in all, i like the trans even though the computer won't hook up to it...it just feels like the coverter is locked all the time....this converter sucks with this transmission big time.....WHAT CAN I DO?
can i go to a stock converter? ( which is what i really want to do anyway )

guys please help me, i've never needed help more than i do now...it seems like everytime i do something it never goes completely right....like now, i got a trans that doesn't flare and slip like the last one but the converter is farked up...

i apologize in advance for rambling, i stayed out all night last night at cecil county watching buicks that were there, got home at 4, back up at 7 to get to the shop in maryland...i am tired and ready to ddt this car...

also, what year could this 200 be if an 86 harness won't snap onto it..

Is it a 3 pin connector? If I remember right a 4 pin will not connect to a 3 pin. If it is a 3 pin, that would be the first clue that maybe it isn't a BRF.

it's a four prong connector....the bottom right hand corner contact isn't there in the trans that i have in the car now....

maybe i'm reading you wrong, but it has four spaces for connection but only three of them have a connection in them...the fourth i don't think has a connection in it..

The four-terminal connector with three active terminals is the most common configuration among 200-4R models. All the TR transmissions used all four terminals though.

just got off the phone with bruce and he gave me alot of insight on what my problem could be based on my symptoms....it seems that the tranny that i have is not built for a lockup converter which means the converter is locked all the time.....i mean, ALL THE TIME...so now i will have to change that in the trans and it should last me for a while...hopefully, until i get mine built...
i have just one statement to make:

BRUCE......IS....THE.....MAN....no question!!!!

:D
