I have always smelled oil when I drive with the sunroof open or the windows down.

I did have a pass valve cover leaking but I think I fixed that so now I'm wondering if I'm burning it and it's coming out the tailpipe. I never see any blue smoke under any conditions.

The previous owner installed a catch can off the pcv which I have to empty every 200 miles or so. Maybe 2 to 3 ounces of oil in it so not sure how it would be getting in the intake.

I got several pcv valves with the car and the interesting thing is the one on the car is plastic and the hole is a 1/3 the size of the others I have. I put one of the metal one with the large hone on the car and it idles like I have a vacuum leak so I put the smaller one back on.

I wonder if this has something to do with my issue?

Rear main seals are famous for dripping on the crossover pipe & smelling. Just a thought

I checked that when I had the tranny out. Bone dry. No leaks on any major parts of the motor. I do have a small leak at the oil line fitting that feeds the turbo from down by the oil filter but it's real small. I suppose that could be it but I don't have oil wash back toward the exhaust there.

O ok & your 100% sure its not coming from the back corner of the pass side cover?

I'm not 100% but when I had the tranny oil it looked sealed and I had good squish on the gasket. I'll check again.
