I just got the car going this past couple weeks and put in a brand new PTS 9/11 3500 stall converter (lockup)...well cruising around the trans shifts 1-2 2-3 and 3-4 perfectly...once I hit 45 mph I feel a very very slight drop in rpms...I did the brake tap test and the rpms jump up exactly 100 rpms and then drop back down 100 rpms while cruising according to the scanmaster...I cruise at 55 mph at around 1900 rpms and 60 mph at 2000 rpms...is this normal??? factory 3.42 rear and 265/50/16 tires in the back...

reason I ask is because my stock converter used to drop the rpms down like 200-400 rpms when it locked up...now my new converter only does 100 rpms...is that normal for a high stall? I hope there is nothing wrong with this thing! btw I replaced the TCC solenoid to make sure and tested the brake switch...I get voltage there and at the connector at the tranny...

If the rpms dropped I would think it is locking up. One more easy way to tell is to wire a lock-up switch. When the switch is on and you take off from a light you can definitely tell it is locking up when it shifts from first to second. The rpms drop way down. I've had mine on accidentally a few times and the big drop after the shift scared me and made me think something was wrong with the car. I switched it off and the car was it's old normal self again.

Don i think thats about right, i see 200 rpm drop at 50 or so with the TC locked up. I can feel it like a soft 4-5 shift lol, at WOT i can't feel it at all and as of yet haven't seen a difference in timeslips but i was too lean at the time and got knock once locked. I see 2200-2300 at 75 or so i think with 275/60s locked up.

I have a manual switch in the car and yes I did flip it to ON while in 1st gear from a dead stop and when it shifted into 2nd...it shifted very hard...so yes the converter is locking up...but is the 100 rpms normal or should it be dropping the rpms more? when I cruise at 40-45 that's when I feel a slight lockup...but it's only like 100 rpms...not 300-400 like with my stock converter...oh well maybe this is just normal with a much higher stall speed...it's 3300 at the footbrake and 3500 flash

ohhhhhh I don't know...now I have noticed that the converter is locking up at around 40-45 mph and the rpms drop like 200 rpms but then you push the accelerator more and the converter unlocks and the rpms go high again...i am cruising at nearly 2000 rpms at 55 mph which cannot be right at all...brand new TCC solenoid and I have verified the brake switch is working...could the chip possibly be doing something goofy with the lockup command???

with your Extender chip you can change lockup MPH,can't remeber which cell though
