I asked this question in general thread, didn't get all of my questions answered. The IAC goes to 0 after driving the car, and I was told it could be a vacuum leak. Also, when torque converter locks up, the car really chugs. So, is there a vacuum line at the transmission that might have come off? It is an 87 GN, 2004R transmission. This started after we tried wrestling with the passenger side valve cover. I tried a new IAC valve and that didn't help. Also replaced the spark plugs and the O2 sensor. Also capped off each of the vacuum lines on top of the throttle body. Nothing worked. Thanks.

Does iac stay at zero after you stop driving?Can you hear a vacuum leak? there is no vacuum to trans.If you have scanner watch 02 and then spray around area that you worked on and if there is a vacuum leak o2 should go high. you should hear that leak with the iac at zero

Plastic line to MAP sensor broken off? That line is in the area you were in w/ the valve cover "wrestling match"?
When I start the car, IAC was around 30-40 I believe. As it warms up, IAC went to 5. Went for a drive and when I got home, IAC was at 0. Can't hear any leaks. What do you recommend I spray on the motor? I asked my mechanic and he said starting fluid is flammable and didn't recommend it.
When I checked that line for vacuum, the vacuum leaked out real quick. Is that normal or could the MAP sensor be bad? The line itself is silicon hose which appears to be in good shape. I was going to perform the same test on my other GN but forgot. Thanks Chuck.
