Had to go help friend's of the family we ride horses with fix their heater today who live way out in the middle of nowhere by the Florida/Georgia border about 80 miles one way. Good paved roads all the way nothing around for miles and miles and miles. I decide to take the T and dust it off. No towns around for miles, straight as an arrow for 7-8 miles, no cross streets, no driveways just fenced fields of cattle on a straight, dry, sunny road.

So I decide to gas on it and let her go. I run her up to 140+ mph, hold it for maybe 15 seconds and let off. I'm down to 80 mph and go by a State Trooper hiding in some trees. He already has his lights going as I finally see him when I'm going by. In ten years I've never seen a cop on this road, damn. He honks his siren as I go by.

I coast to a stop, pull over and wait for him. He pulls up behind me and gets out, walking to my car. In the mirror I can see it is the only trooper I know in the whole State, we go to the same church, his wife and mine are friends and I've been his A/C contrator for years but he's never seen this car. I turn my head as he gets to the door and he says "you idiot, what do you think you're doing, I almost radioed this in but you pulled over before I gave chase so I didn't". He says "are you crazy"? "What do you got under the hood of that 'Monte' a built 350 or a big block"? I remind him we talked about this car a few years ago and it is a Turbo Buick Regal. He says "oh yea, that thing is fast, I want to drive it".

His kid has medical issues so he and his wife are not well off by any means and I did him a lot of free be's until they could save up enough money to finally replace the A/C system. So I installed a new system a couple of years ago and only made a couple of hundred dollars on the deal and he has always appreciated it. Today he repaid the favor and let me go with a "slow down"!

Any other LE and I'm going to jail.
I'm officially driving like an old fart for a while.

Talk about lucking out! Sooooooo, did you let him drive it? You owe him that at least! Did he know you were going well over 100 mph or did he just catch you doing 80?

I was just gonna ask that! If yes, how fast did he go? Did he puss out when he felt the power?

lol

If your speedo is unmodified you should say but officer it only goes to 85mph because it's not a big bad v8 it's tiny little v6 haha

I had a similar situation years ago in Alabama between Enterprise and Florala where I lived. Had a trooper chase me down and it wasn't to give me a ticket but to ask me ?'s about the gn. He had bought one at an estate sale that didn't run for about 5 years and wanted to learn about it. I was pulled over in front of a farm house and the people came out on the porch to see what was going on because we chatted about the TR's for about 20 minutes or so. I was thankful it wasn't about a ticket.

He said I covered the 2-3 miles that he could see me very quickly but he did not turn on the laser till I was close and had coasted down to 80. He would not drive it on duty, so I have to bring it by his house on a day off, he wants to drive it. I've already been told by another trooper (boyfriend of a girl my daughter rides horses with) to not let him, he's a maniac (man news travels fast).

I have my OTC sitting in a holder on the trans hump so I know how fast I'm going. Yea, we talked for 15 minutes "and all the folk who live on the dirt side road where I pulled off came out to see what all the rucus was as he left his disco lights on".

Wow- I'm not a huge believer in luck but in this case, I'd say you were lucky! They have passed new laws here in GA for superspeeder cases when going 20mph above the speed limit and they are really huge fines should one get caught! Good part about superspeeder fines are that the proceeds/ fines go towards funding our trauma centers here in state. I think I'll take it to the track when I feel that need.
