How do you replace the ignition in your steering column? Also has anyone replaced a steering column before?

The lock cylinder. You see the car was busted into about a year ago. I am going to school and working so I never get to work on her that much. The column was ripped to shreds on the left side and the ignition switch was also ripped to shreds. I got a new ignition switch from the dealership to replace it and I figure I might have to replace the whole steering column anyways. I am trying to get the steering wheel off right now but I can not. My roommate says there is special tool to do so but do I even have to take it off to change the ingnition?

ok ,

yes youll need a steering wheel puller and a lock plate depressior tool

some times autozone rents them , you need snap ring pliers too

let me know you have them and ill tell you where to go from there ,

head to the library and get a Chilton's manual for your car- or even buy one.
hell, even a $12 Hayne's manual can walk you thru this simple operation.

Sounds good thank you. I am going to borrow a digital camera soon so I can post some pictures and post what the a-wholes did to it! The only thing that saved was the killswitch it has!
