OK, so back to square one on my 109 block pursuit. Had no clue there were vultures in our St. Louis community just out to rip people off to make a buck. So after the first block I go to see just magically had a .020 thousandths groove appear in cylinder #5, that deal died. Of course the guy selling it never saw this massive bore length groove even after he had it bored .030 over and the block cleaned up (wink wink). Yes, the groove was put in the block after it had already been bored, block was trash!!!!
So I have another guy from the board here contact me then a guy called by the name of Larry....all in the St. Louis area mind you, so me and Larry AGREE on a price of $275 for the block. After a few weeks of working out a schedule I agree to drive 45 miles today to go get the block.......only to have this jackass tell me there's a problem with the block when I get there....so I'm thinking crack or something like that, nope! He says he now wants $350 for the block. I was like WTF?!!!!!! Total ass-hole! Needless to say I walked away furious and telling him what an ass he was! I don't mind paying premium for something at all as long as it's negotiated and both parties have agreed to a sales price up front but when you try this crap on me after the deal has already been agreed on, you're scum of the earth in my book. So 90 miles driving, 1.5 hrs of time wasted today because of Larry in the St. Louis area, who mind you also has other GN parts he is selling............so beware!!!!!!!!!!
In the meantime, if there are any other members or known people in the St. Louis area who does have a legitimate deal on a 109 block and you can be honest about it's condition and price, I would love to hear from you...........Thx, Dean
