I'm chasing a gremlin, I could use some insight. Most times the car will idle just fine. Other times, the idle speed is so low it's constantly on the verge of a stall. 95% of the time, I can fire up the car in the morning and everything is as it should be. The other 5% of the time (and it's random), as soon as it fires up I can tell the idle speed is too low and will stall out until it warms up and even then, the idle is not as high as it should be. My defination of too low is 450-500 rpm in neutral. The scanmaster shows that the IAC counts do move when the throttle gets closed, so the valve doesn't appear to be stuck. The 95% of the time that it works correctly, i fire it up and everything works just great. If it fires and has the correct idle to begin with, it never screws up thoughout the driving cycle. performance when driving is unaffected. It still pulls like a freight train, no misfires or stumbles.
Turning on the a/c bumps the idle speed up, but that doesn't solve the original problem. I've checked for vacuum leaks, I've checked fuel pressure, I've done a wire wiggle check, no SES codes either.
Can anyone help me out here, I'm at a loss.
Thanks, Joe
