Inernal to external stuipd question

This is my first turbo engine, going into a hybrid. I bought a used ATR downpipe with an external gate from a board member here. I'm running the stock turbo. When I removed the stock DP, I also removed the internal puck. Was that the right thing to do or not? The car is still going together, and it's still a ways from completion. I was about to remove thr DP anyway, so now would be the time to fix it. Forgive my inexperience.

yes , you're good .
the stock elbow with the puck had to come offf .
new atr pipe will bolt right up to the turbo

Cool, thanks. That's what I thought. I read another thread that made me question removing it.

Do I need to do anything about the puck hole, or should I just leave it alone?
