Looking into buying a 85' GN.

Could someone explain the dif between 85' and 87'?

I know the 87's were the fastest, but could I change the 85 over if I wish? Should I hold out for a 87 GN or just go with the 85?

Thx.

I know someone will say use the search feature as this comes up alot. Basicly 84-85 are fuel injected non intercooled. 86-87 are intercooled they use different intakes and the 86-87 turbo flows more. They have intercooler kits for hot airs. If you can get a good deal on the 85 then go for it they might not be as fast as a 86-87 stock but have as much potential as your wallet allows. Good luck.

Why change over  if you can just get the 86/87?

Don't get me wrong I looked at an 85 & it did go OK but my 86 was that much better in feel.

thanks for the input.

Starting to read over the site and it seems most say to hold out for the 86-87 aswell.

Bummer.

Been there, done that..

I have an 85 that I wasn't extremely happy with. Possibly due to bad luck with all the misfortune. But after one too many misfortunates, I came across an 87 that had been hit hard and decided to do the swap. Looking back at it, I'm glad I did it. It was a lot of work. But if I had to do it again, I think I would go ahead and hold out for an 86-7.

Granted, for not too much money one can be had that is in fair to reparable shape. You're still going to pay a pretty coin for something that is low mile/good condition. Unless you're lucky.
