Just a quick question for the gurus.

I'm doing the final assembly of my 2004r, checking the input shaft end play. Right now I have .030, the atsg manual says .005-.015.

Should I worry?

Are the selectives still available from the General? My printout only lists the Violet washer I'll need a green to get it down to .005

TIA

Rob

AT CKPERFORMANCE WE LIKE .004,AND THIS IS AFTER SUBTRACTING THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE INPUT SHAFT SNAP RING AND ORUN DRUM .THE SHAFT CAN MOVE BETWEEN THE DRUM AND SNAP RING FOOLING YOU INTO THINKING THE CLEARANCE IS RIGHT ,IT WILL WORK AT UP TO . 020 W/OUT PROBLEM

Okay,

Thanks for the advice, makes sense.

I'll measure the clearance of the shaft in the planet and subtract that from the total end clearance to see what I have.

Now why didn't I think of that?

My ATRA book says to push the shaft down and apply 3 lbs of upward force to the shaft till you feel the snap ring bottom out. Zero the indicator and apply 15lbs of upward force to the shaft and record your endplay.

hope this helps.

Even though it is not my thread (I am usually lurkin' n readin') I will say thanks - some good information/advice here!
