Purchased this off eBay. Was wondering how often does the Dutt neck not line up with the turbo?

This one looks as if the side facing the driver side of the engine bay is dead on, but the side facing the passenger side is clearly off.

I know the Dutt neck is bigger than the turbo outlet, but was thinking that when does is usually dead nuts centered with the turbo outlet...??

Has anyone else had this issue? Is this just the result of improper placement during the cut and weld?

When I put the I/C in, I mounted it right in the stock location on the brackets.

Only thing I can wonder is when they lopped off the old neck if they cut at the improper angle?

Of course I do not know if having the neck slightly offset makes any difference or not. I did pick up the 1-2 PSI everyone said I would, though i believer some said their turbo spooled quicker with a Dutt neck as opposed to a stock neck; I didn't see any real difference in spool.

it doesn't look bad But if you are the type to loose sleep over things like this you can port the IC to reduce any turbulence the mis alignment could be causing

They just didn't get the neck in the right place before welding. Like TURBOPOWERED68 said you can probably message the mounting brackets and up pipe angle to center it but it most likely won't make any difference in performance just looks. :)

Loosen every bolt related to the turbo and intercooler. There is some give. It is hard to blame the install of the neck when you consider there is variation in the passenger header that will position the turbo in a different spot. It doesn't look that bad, so you should be able to line it up with some adjustment.

For an example on how the passenger headers differ, I was able to run a 4" maf pipe without an angle boss for the IAC, while on a friend's car, his 3" was close.

The alignment issue could be the reason you didn't pick up boost. It may not flow any better if it isn't aligned center to center.
