I ordered Razors Alky kit on monday and it was delivered on Friday. I did not get a chance to install it until Saturday evening. I opened all the parts and laid them out. A few less than happy thoughts flashed thru my head. I made a quick run thru of the instuctions and i dug in. I had the underhood stuff done in about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Nothing to bad except the radiator overflow bottle. The supplied one just does not work on my car. It may be my battery is bigger than stock or something. I am going to have to re engineer that part. I got everything dressed up under the hood and moved to the inside of the car. In my opinion this is a well thought out kit. I was not thrilled with the 3 lights that need to be hooked up in different locations. ( boost, low fuel and power injection) That did not take as long as i figured it would. I probably spent 2 hours on the inside hook up, but a lot of that time was spend on remounting my boost guage and cleaning up some wires under the dash. Hooked up everything and had a red wire left?? A few seconds of panic and realize that was a new wire added for additional connections for other toys in the future. I actually followed the instuctions and made a quick run thru before i added the ALKY. This was Sunday night about 10 P.M. and i hollered at my 17 year old to take a test spin with me. We back out of the garage and head down the driveway. Car is nice and warmed up and we turn onto the main road whick is about a nice flat 1/2 mile long with no traffic. I started to plant it and the boost light went from red to green and all of the sudden my SCANMASTER went dead!!!!! A few choice words and i said to hell with it as my boost was only set to about 16 lbs any way. We made just a few light runs before returning home and i can tell this is going to be a blast. Turned out the wire had slipped out of the port on the scanmaster. Took about 1 minute to fix that. I hope my TT chip shows up monday so i can do some test and tune. My reviews to follow.

just wait until you get that chip and crank up the boost!!! YEEE-HAAAAA!

As for the overflow tank, mine couldn't fit anywhere! I finally just yanked the washer fluid tank and mounted it there, ran some hose over there.

Im glad to hear that I wasn't the only one who couldn't get the overflow tank to fit. I put mine in the hole between the fender and battery.

That was one place I tried to get it, so it was at least hidden, but the supplied mounts didn't quite line up without me bending them...

Bottle

Had to take battery out to get it to fit . Looked kinda cheesy stuffed in there but it worked well.

None of them are really made to work IMO: you have to "make" them work. A suggested place to mount the new overflow bottle: the pass side of the electric fan shroud. Drill 2 holes and put in some self tapping screws. Problem solved.

The beauty of these lights is you have 1 to tell you it's on, 1 to tell you when it goes from low PSI to high (put this next to your boost gauge) and one that warns you when your alky level is low. Yes it's tedious to install but quite honestly I like the idea.

The additional red wire has been added to the 6 pin plug so extra things like low level can now use that for power. This was added to the kit two weeks ago and the manuals need updating. On the Buick 3 wires need B+.. the pump red, power injection red, and the low level red. Adding the red wire wtakes the load of the terminal.

The three lights.. the power injection is not needed on the kit. It was added as a "Neato" thing to do as the slot is there. The Low Level I used the factory display. This was done to keep the system stealthy and out of sight. The turnon one.. that one has to be where you can see it. I guess all the lights can be in one package, my fear was someone hides the controller and you cant tell the system is really working or not. Or the controller is placed under the dash and you have to look down to see if the kit is working or not. Not a good idea at 100 MPH.. So unless the controller would be mounted on top of the dash, there would be no way to tell. So its a little more work, but the results offset the trouble.

Some guys have just run a hose to the washer tank and used that for an overflow. Some will mount the overflow to the factory radiator fan. On pretty much all my installs, the overflow tank has fit in front of the battery. I just dont use brackets when mounting it. And keep it empty, as its a catch can to get any overflow from the radiator. As so many changes happen on cars(different batteries, different IC's, different MAF pipes, etc) there is nothing straight forward anymore unless the car is bone stock.

Hope this helps.. keep an eye on that fuse, if you have too many items on that circuit, you may want to move it to another IGN slot or bump up the rating from 15A to 20A.

As a long time user of a DIY kit, I recently stepped up to Razor's kit. Wish I didn't wait so long to switch. This thing just plain kicks butt. My only complaint is the little light that switches from red to green. Love watching it go to green ALL the time:biggrin: so I am going thru Methanol like crazy.:) Still getting it dialed in, been pulling fuel out of WOT as I am seeing low 800's on the Scanmaster. This is with 22 lbs of boost with 37 lb injectors. Was running 750's - 740's with my previous setup with the DIY alky kit that I used isopropyl and distilled water. Had the Translator plus set for 6% rich at WOT.

i mounted the bottle under the front where the fender meets the header/ bumpr filler. two seams have a couple holes which one can use to make a custom ziptie cradle

LOL, "Custom Ziptie Cradle"!!! My Buicks are ziptie magnets. LOL BTW, good idea, never thought of using that area. My overflow is in front of the battery on the GN.

NICE KIT JULIO............... THANK YOU! Daily driver needs one now:eek:
